Update - April 7, 2016
THIS SUNDAY’S SERVICE – April 10th, at 10:30 am
Down and Dirty: Compost, Humility, and the Cycle of Life
Rev. Libby Moore
In this season of change — the spring equinox, Easter, and Earth Day — we are called to reflect on our relationship with the earth and with other beings. What enriches our lives? What needs to grow in us? What do we need to toss in the compost heap?
OFFICE CLOSED ON MONDAY, APRIL 11
May Memorial’s office will be closed this coming Monday, April 11th.
URGENT: PLEASE RETURN YOUR PLEDGE FORMS
Even if you set up automatic payments, the Stewardship Committee still needs your completed pledge forms. A firm projection of our income is critical as we negotiate for an interim minister.
Please put your completed pledge forms in the Stewardship Box on the table in the MMUUS foyer, or email Stewardship co-chair Jane Fagerland your information. Thank you!
COLGATE CHAMBER SINGERS TO PERFORM AT MMUUS TOMORROW
The Colgate Chamber Singers will be performing at May Memorial at 7:30 pm TOMORROW EVENING, April 8th. Attendees will be treated to a concert of sacred and secular a cappella music, which will include the music of Barber, Bruckner, Hogan, Palestrina, and others. This concert is free to the public.
HOMELESS & HUNGRY MEAL TO BE SERVED THIS SATURDAY
This Saturday, April 9th, May Memorial will be serving our next meal for the Homeless & Hungry at the Samaritan Center in downtown Syracuse. We generally work from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Julie Daniel. If you are unable to help in person, please consider making a financial donation to support this important work. Checks should be made out to “MMUUS” with “Homeless and Hungry” on the memo line.
Please remember to donate regularly to our Food & Personal Care baskets in the foyer. Vicky Schipper reports that last year we donated over 1,500 pounds of food to the needy! Let’s keep up the momentum! Remember to pick up a few items each week when you are in the grocery store or drug store. Suggested items: canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, soup packets, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, baby food and toiletries, socks, raisins, pasta, cereals.
BUDGET REVIEW MEETING – APRIL 24
The annual draft budget review meeting will take place in the Social Hall at noon on Sunday, April 24th. Be there to inform and support your hard-working Board of Trustees, Finance and Stewardship committees as they present the working draft budget for the 2016-17 church year. The final approval of the budget will be at the annual meeting in June.
The next informal Board Chat is 4/17 during Coffee Hour in the Social Hall. Come talk to us.
MAY MEMORIAL’S PR/WEBSITE COMMITTEE SEEKS YOUR OPINION!
Do you have an opinion about May Memorial's website? Would you like our public events to be more widely recognized? Would you like to see YouTube videos of our recent services? Do you have access to a computer?
If so, the Public Relations/Website Committee wants to teach you new skills or give you the opportunity to practice existing skills. We want you to help us to share MMUUS public events with our wider community and to give homebound members access to past Sunday Services.
If you're interested in helping out short term, email email@example.com and let us know your availability and if there is a particular task or skill you're excited about. If you're interested in making a larger commitment, we're meeting this Sunday, April 10th, from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, and we would love to see you at our meeting.
