#UUWHITESUPREMACYTEACHIN WORKSHOP
White supremacy is the “water that we swim in.” Following up on the May 7th, “Workship” service for the #UUWhiteSupremacyTeachIn, this workshop will cover the basics of white supremacy culture and systems. How do we understand the roles these systems play in our daily lives and what can we do to transform them?  Special emphasis will be placed on history, microaggressions, and cultural norms. Please join us in May Memorial’s Sanctuary, this Saturday, May 20th, beginning at 9:00 am.

This workshop is offered by Pastor Sunshine Wolfe, an experienced facilitator and trainer in anti-oppression and anti-racism. Please contact gher at swolfe@uuma.org if you have questions. To register for the teach-in workshop, go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4aacab2aa4ff2-uuwhitesupremacyt.

IT’S A MAY MEMORIAL WORKDAY PARTY!
All able-bodied folks are asked to join us on Saturday, May 27
th
, for a workday party at May Memorial. We will start the morning with bagels at 9:00 am and finish around 3:00 pm, at which time cake will be served.

There is much to be done on our grounds! We need to bring light to the walkway. We need strong backs to dig a hole for a post, and we need to dig some trenches in which to install conduit. We are also going to strip the bridge, in anticipation of a capital project, to resurface the bridge. Please bring shovels and gloves, and a post hole digger would be handy.

SUMMER COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED
Please consider volunteering to co-host coffee hour in June, July, or August. See Don MacKay in the Social Hall on any Sunday or email him at
mackay214@gmail.com to sign up.

UU REVIVAL AT MAY MEMORIAL – AUGUST 12
A UU Revival?  Is that even possible?  Of course it is, and it’s happening right here in our beautiful garden this summer! We’ll have lots of music, a delicious potluck, an inspiring outdoor service, networking and fun with fellow UUs from all over central New York. Be sure to join in this UU Happening.

A committee of dedicated volunteers from several UU churches has been meeting for a year to get all the details worked out. The goal is to have fun together as we make connections with our sister churches. Our own garden is the perfect place to gather, and we can always move inside if the weather does not cooperate.

Please go to https://www.eventbrite.com/o/cny-unitarian-universalists-12812652109 to find details of the day’s schedule and to register. This event is free and promises to be the highlight of the summer.

Questions? See Alexa Carter, Fred Fiske, Kent Lindstrom, or Miriam Pia.

We welcome volunteers from MMUUS to help with preparations for the day and to serve as hosts and hostesses for our visitors.

OUR CARE BASKETS
Please remember to purchase food and toiletry donations for our baskets in the foyer. In doing so, we support those in our community who struggle to have even their basic needs met on a daily basis. Let us all  chose to “walk the talk” as we live our UU principles valuing others and showing compassion.

Some suggested donations: canned fruits, peanut butter, cereals, baby food, macaroni and cheese, easily prepared “quick foods” for teens after school, deodorant, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, baby wipes, diapers, canned tuna.
